From D.C. to Dallas.

Hi, or howdy as I should say now. I always thought starting a blog would be fun but never could find anything quite that interesting to write about. How about moving 1,350 miles away from home to start a new adventure? Sounds like a good enough idea to me!

Moving to Dallas wasn't an easy decision. Leaving my family, friends, jobs, neighborhood, home, etc. But how do you know what's beyond those walls of comfort unless you jump over them and see? That's what I did. Lucky for me, on the other side of those walls was Sam. Although I was jumping into a complete new world, I knew there would be one person to hold my hand through it. So with some help from everyone back home, and a LOT of help from a particular brother, I did it! The drive down was much more fun than you would think. A stop in Virginia, Nashville, and Little Rock. All had good food, good views, and even nicer people the more South we got. Living like a King with Jason for the journey was a whole adventure in itself!

It's been exactly a month ago since I left home to begin the drive. Crazy how time flies. Although I've cheated and went back for a few days, (hey, it was Maroon 5 related) I've already had the chance to dip my toes in the pool of Dallas life and it feels good. I've already seen Maroon 5 in my new home (priority, obviously), had a friend come visit, had a brother come visit, seen bull riding, ate LOTS of BBQ, and I've gotten lost trying to run the easiest of errands. It's also become a habit to tell Siri "Directions to Home" and as soon as she says "19 hours, 32 minutes,..." I remember she still thinks that means Maryland.

I also put a lot of time into making the apartment more "homey" so naturally I'm pretty proud. Here's some pictures for now until I have some more adventures to blog about!

Living room and hallway decorated with Maryland/D.C./USA decor as expected:

This dresser was one of my first purchases when I moved in- Craigslist for the win. (Although the top drawer is a fake-me-out, but I'm past that now)

I've always dreamed of a closet I could walk into. I may have cut down Sam's usage of this closet to about 1/4. ;)

Being surrounded by Christmas lights is one of my favorite feelings. Perfect atmosphere for a great nap! The pillow pets and animals help too, of course.

Love that there is a balcony behind those blinds. Unfortunately I brought the cold and snow down here with me so we haven't had the weather to enjoy it yet. Hopefully soon!

Hugs, kisses, and barbecue,
Kendra
