The Best May EVER

I love spring so much that I think it's worthy of a second post. Not to mention ALL the fun things that have happened in May. Shiner barely made it through...

First things first, my BFFAEAE came to visit! We showed Brandi the finer things that Dallas has to offer... Mexican food and donuts! She even took my spin class. True best friend status right there. ❤

We did the touristy things, too, and walked across the Trinity River bridge. In case you can't tell, it was just a LITTLE windy and cold. Don't think I'll be saying that again anytime soon!

Weather seriously loves me. Especially when it's time to do another century ride. I headed back home the following weekend to do the Six Pillars Century with Brad. It was our third year doing it so there was no way we could miss it regardless of what mother nature threw at us. Flooded roads, constant wind gusts... you name it, we survived it. This picture doesn't do it justice, but the water was literally crashing over the road like waves. It was just like being at the beach, minus the sand! I've gotta admit, I didn't mind the smell of salt water one bit.

We assumed these waves would be the worst of it, but we were very, very wrong. When you're in the middle of nowhere and you come across a flooded road, what do you do? Bike through it of course! Just when our feet were starting to dry, too.... I wasn't brave enough to risk my phone's life, but Brad got a great video!

Despite everything, we made it! The toughest century ride to date, but also one of the most fun. It always helps that the rest stops include ice cream and mountain dew! Yay for victory- and the best cheerleaders ever!!

This simply wouldn't be a true Kendra blog post if it didn't include a Shiner adventure. I've wanted to do the SPCA Strut Your Mutt walk the past two years after getting Shiner, but was never in town for it. The stars finally aligned this year and we were able to do it! Let's just say that a furry black dog and 90 degree weather don't go hand in hand... but hey, we made it!

Start of the 3K walk, going strong!

We were in the home stretch at this point, but it was HOT. Any shade we came upon she ran over to and plopped down. Don't worry, she got LOTS of water and ice. And even a spray down at one of the rest stops!

After probably the longest walk of Shiner's life, we crossed the finish line! I've gotta say, it was really hard to not go home with another rescue pup. So many cuties were there and up for adoption!

Next up... GRADUATION! After 3 years, Sam did it! Yay! The weekend included lots of family, fun, and food. The ceremony was outside on the SMU Law quad and it was so pretty. A little warm... but we survived. At least we weren't in a cap and gown like the graduates! It was so fun seeing Sam and all of the law school peeps I became friends with these last few years get hooded!

Despite it being in the 80's and sunny, I convinced Sam to put the sweaty cap and gown back on for some photos. With special guest, Shiner. 🐾

Also, how could I NOT try on a hat this fabulous?

Last, but definitely not least, Jason & Jen got married! After 26 years of only having brothers, I finally have a sister! It was another family filled weekend and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Congrats!!! And welcome the family, Jen!!

Just a couple of wedding highlights... when Jason tells his coworkers that it's a Harry Potter themed wedding (complete with Harry Potter invitations) and they show up with Gryffindor scarves and a sorting hat. Oh, and Hedwig.

There were also 3D glasses AND a special DJ request. As I casually went up to DJ Steve to request Maroon 5, he stared at me in shock. As I stared back confused, he informed me that he was not allowed to play anything having to do with Adam Levine. I didn't believe him until he showed me his paperwork... Nice try, Jason. My aunt & uncle slipped him $20 in an attempt to get him to play it. He held strong and refused unless the bride okay-ed it. Thanks, Jen! 😉

And one FINAL thing- Baby Jack decided to make his arrival right before the wedding so I was able to go meet the little cutie while I was in town. He's so tiny!! Side note- this was the first time I ever held a baby. Unless puppies count...

Alright, that about wraps up the most fun and craziest month ever! Loved EVERY second of it. Now here's to this whole turning 27 thing...
